Ralph Holt (Harold Lockwood) is the "son" of Holt and Son, pearl merchants. While on a business trip to the South Seas, he meets Jeb Foster (William Stowell) and his daughter, Lillo (May Allison), a pearl diver. Foster invites him on a cruise and he goes, not realizing the man's malevolent nature. A typhoon hits and the boat is wrecked. The only survivors are Foster, Lillo and Ralph. They all wind up on an island inhabited by Captain Rand, a one-armed American hermit (Harry Von Meter). Foster discovers that Rand has some money hidden away and tries to steal it. Pahui, Rand's servant (Perry Banks), catches him and Rand discovers that Foster is the man who ran off with his wife and daughter some 16 years before. They fight, and Pahui gives Foster the death blow. Rand then tells Lillo that he is really her father. Their reunion is dampened when Ralph has to go back to New York. But he misses Lillo and comes back to the South Seas to be with her, and to take over operations for the firm locally.
