In a day and age when interracial marriages were considered taboo, film star Sessue Hayakawa rarely got the girl in his pictures. The issue of prejudice is broached here -- and Hayakawa still doesn't get the girl, who in this case is society girl Marion Halstead (Doris Pawn). Hayakawa is the title character, a Chinese prince studying at an American college. Because of his skill at athletics, he's popular until he and Marion start a romance. The couple is ostracized to the point that Marion has to break off the engagement. Instead, she marries Bob Murray (Allan Forrest), while Li Ting Lang is shanghaied and taken back to the Orient. There is a revolution going on in China, and Li Ting Lang takes charge of the rebels. Marion and her new husband go to Hong Kong on their honeymoon, and she is kidnapped. Li Ting Lang, now known as General Wu Yen, rescues her and sadly returns her to Murray.
