This is a curious documentary that looks back at the history of modern Russia, beginning with the Czar and ending with Nikita Khrushchev. Historical footage covers scenes from the revolution, and contrasts images of the Czar at leisure while the ordinary workers and peasants are suffering. Lenin and Trotsky also appear, and in an interesting turn of events, Trotsky is credited for his role in the revolution and Stalin is criticized (in a speech by Khrushchev). Although somewhat of an odd mix of sequences, the documentary remains especially interesting for the unique images it provides on moments and movers in Russian history. Most of this footage has not been seen before and must have been difficult to track down and compile.
