An interesting treatise on the lonely battle to save the planet from the ravages of self-serving entrepreneurs, this drama unfolds around ill-tempered forest ranger Rostom Sarkisyan (Khoren Abramyan). It's clear from the beginning that as much as Rostom loves the woods and nature, the villagers hate him because he tries to do his job. He stops the illegal felling of trees during the night, which earns him a stoning by village youngsters and the enmity of everyone. The cinematography (by G. Avakyan) is striking and evocative of the undeniable splendor of a waterfall or deep forest -- and greatly helps to make the director's message clear. By the telling climax, most viewers will certainly be won over to director Bagrat Oganesyan's well-limned, ecological point of view.
