When I say Kafka, what comes to mind?
Mysterious police agents arrest a hapless innocent in the middle of the night, plunging him into a labyrinth of nonsensical and sadistic bureaucracy. Terror, tyranny.
Here’s what comes to my mind.
A frail, little boy in fear of his domineering and oppressive father. The boy grows up but cannot leave his father’s house, and there he continues to live for most of his 41 years.
Tyranny begins at home. As does terror. That’s what I’m looking to explore in the Kafka pieces I’ve chosen to adapt.
