The Czechoslovakian Junge Liebe (Young Love) was released throughout Europe by a German firm, Europa Films. Juvenile performers Vasa Jalovec and Jarmile Berankova play the leading roles, a pair of preteen schoolkids who, per the film's title, fall in love. There is nothing prurient or perverse about this; the relationship is a tender, nurturing one, believably enacted by the young stars. Much of the film was shot silent, backed up by the haunting musical score by Josef Dobe. One of the most successful Czech productions of the early 1930s, Junge Liebe was also released as The River.
