Jumping rope has come a long way since its early days as just another pastime on the playground, and filmmaker Helen Hood Scheer offers an insider's look at one of America's biggest rope jumping competitions in this documentary. In Jump!, Scheer follows six teams of jumpers who are trying to make their way into the finals of the USA Jump Rope Nationals, where kids show off remarkable speed, dexterity and imagination as they try to impress the judges with their original routines. While all of the competitors strive to come up with a flashy jump or rope manipulation that will impress the judges, one jumper, Tori, works against the personal disadvantage that she suffers from asthma and sometimes finds herself struggling to breathe in the midst of a contest. Jump! received its world premiere at the 2007 Los Angeles Film Festival.
