Juliana (Rosa Isabel Morfino) is a child of the Peruvian slums, driven to the streets by her stepfather's physical abuse. There she reunites with her brother. He ekes out a living with other urchins, singing for spare change under the watchful, if menacing, eye of Don Pedro (Julio Vega). To join them, Juliana must disguise herself as a boy. It's a hard life, made bearable by the love of music. But when Don Pedro discovers Juliana's gender, she is once again in danger.
