Is Any Girl Safe? was rushed into production by Universal to capitalize on the New York County District Attorney's investigation of the state's white slavery activities. In terms of content and technique, the film wasn't all that far removed from the 1913 Universal blockbuster Traffic in Souls. Once again, innocent young girls were lured to the big city for immoral purposes. The "shocking" finale consists of the old reliable plot device wherein one of the recruiters for the white slave ring discovers that his own sister has been hornswoggled into a life of prostitution. On the occasion of the film's New York debut, Rabbi Alexander Lyons of Brooklyn offered a brief invocation and a less-than-brief sermon.
