Entrepreneur George Kleine was the American distributor for this French costume melodrama. A wealthy farmer wills all his money to his son on the proviso that the boy care for the old man in his declining years. The son and his wife proceed to treat the father atrociously, but the ailing man takes comfort in the kindnesses of his grandson. After a series of disasters linked with the then-raging French revolution, the grandson does his best to patch up relationships with the old man and the ungrateful son. The film's saving grace was the naturalistic performance of its youthful "star."
