This three-reel Selig production was adapted from Isobel, a novel by James Oliver Curwood. The first few scenes establish the animosity between Royal Canadian Mounties McVeigh and Nome. Both men are assigned to capture accused murderer Scottie Dean, but McVeigh reaches Dean's hideout first, where he meets the fugitive's wife Isobel. She insists that Scottie is dead and has the coffin to prove it. The truth, however, is that Scottie is very much alive, using the coffin as a means of escape. When Nome catches up to McVeigh, Scottie and Isobel, he is all for arresting the fugitive, but by this time McVeigh is convinced of Scottie's innocence. The solution to the dilemma rests with the inscrutable Isobel, whose behavior throughout the picture is erratic, to say the very least.
