Pathe's In Ancient Greece was little more than a filmed record of a vaudeville act. A Salome-style dancer and her partner prance on-stage, perform a "classical" dance, and bow to the unseen audience. Evidently, this act was originally performed in the near-nude, with both the male and female performer wearing as little as legally possible. But when time came to film the act, both participants were more modestly garbed. The Variety reviewer applauded this gesture of "decency," though one detects a bit of disappointment in his carefully chosen words.
