When the pub where the locals used to go to resolve their differences is permanently closed, the mayor of a village in Southwest Bohemia attempts to promote a European-funded tourist center just out of town to serve the same purpose in Czech documentary filmmaker Erika Hníková's entry into the 2007 Hot Docs International Film Festival. In the village of Besiny, the uniform you wear dictates the company you keep. The athletics club and the volunteer fire brigade do their best not to cross paths, and though they appear to favor the firemen, the members of the hunt club strive to avoid mingling with any of the other groups. While the young frequently abandon Besiny by the time they grow mature enough to seek work elsewhere, the elderly cling to their memories and the tangible reminders of their glory days.
