This Gaumont "trick" film relies upon sped-up photography for its humor. Half of the footage is devoted to shots of a super-galvanized horse rushing through the woods, dragging a glassy-eye driver and wagon behind him. The reason for the horse's haste is revealed in the first scene. Combining fast motion with animation, the audience is treated to the astonishing sight of a horse devouring an entire haystack in a matter of seconds. Thus "energized," the nag is incapable of moving at a speed less than 100 MPH. The film is an amusing variation on the standard "rejuvenation" plot then in popular usage.
