This amusing silent comedy was one of many that Carter DeHaven and his wife, Flora Parker DeHaven, made for Paramount. Carter plays a businessman who is completely occupied by his superstitions. He knows he is on the verge of a big promotion and does everything he can to promote good luck. When he has a bad dream he jumps over the bed ten times; his lucky tokens are legion. His wife (Flora) barely tolerates this curious behavior. Being more practical, she suggests that he invite the boss to dinner. This only causes him to start tossing salt over his shoulder. The cook gets it in her eyes and quits. Before going into the office, he finds a horseshoe, breaks a mirror, and finds a four-leaf clover to neutralize the effects of the broken mirror. His boss finds him such a wreck that he allows him to have the day off. The husband heads home, making sure not to step on any cracks in the sidewalk and picking up all the pins he sees. Finally the boss arrives for dinner and it's a rousing success. The moment he leaves, the wife reveals to her husband that it's Friday the 13th. The husband realizes the folly of his superstitious beliefs and tosses the horseshoe out the window. It knocks the boss unconscious.
