Cabaret singer Marion Cabot (Adele Farrington) loses her job when she grows to old to attract customers. To keep the home fires burning, Marion selects her own replacement, her pretty daughter Jane (Rhea Mitchell). The girl is a success, but she soon grows weary of her tawdry surroundings. The limit comes when Jane is publicly insulted by crooked politician Dolan (Herschel Mayall). She responds by throwing a glass of wine in his face, thereby incurring a powerful enemy. Before long, Jane is blackballed from the cabaret circuit, and is barred from finding employment elsewhere. She finds some comfort in the fact that Lee Stevens (Edward Coxen), a lovestruck young mountaineer, is doggedly devoted to her. But when Stevens finds Jane in a compromising situation framed by Dolan, the young Romeo angrily walks out on the girl. Dolan gleefully proceeds to ruin the lives of Jane's father and mother as well but finally oversteps his bounds when he tries to rub out a crusading district attorney. Upon learning that Dolan was responsible for all of Jane's troubles, Stevens sheepishly asks the girl to forgive him.
