A pair of brothers -- honest doctor Max Brownell (Jack Dean) and charming rogue Lee Brownell (Tom Forman) -- vie for the hand of Coralie Grayson (Fannie Ward). Typically, Coralie goes for the black sheep, and they prepare to get married. But the night before the wedding, crooked detective Peters (Billy Elmer) blackmails Lee over a theft. In desperation, Lee steals a valuable bracelet from Coralie's mother as payment. Max is able to fend off Peters, but Lee is unable to return the bracelet. After the wedding, Coralie finds it in Lee's pocket. He begs her to stand by him, and she agrees but refuses to consummate the marriage until he proves that he has reformed. But Lee's darker nature gets the better of him, and he becomes so jealous of Max that he decides to murder him. His attempt backfires, as Max is only wounded, and this drives Lee to heart failure. At Lee's death, Coralie and Max are free to be together. This picture was quite a comedown for Fannie Ward and Jack Dean, who co-starred in Cecil B. DeMille's The Cheat a year and a half earlier. It was overacted and the climax came off as melodramatic high camp.
