Scottish filmmaker Phil Collins directed this experimental short, which he says was inspired by the eightieth anniversary of commercial television. In He Who Laughs Last . . ., Collins staged a "laughing contest" and filmed the proceedings as a group of people laugh as hard as they can as long as they can in the desperate hope of being named the winner. But what are they laughing at, and why? He Who Laughs Last Laughs Longest was screened in competition at the 2007 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
