Serial queen Ruth Roland was her usual self-reliant self in the slickly entertaining Pathe chapter play Hands Up. Episode One was set in Mexico, where an ancient tribe of Incas dedicate themselves to finding a queen who will restore the tribe to its former glory. Enter American newspaperwoman Echo Delane (Ruth Roland), who happens to be the living image of a long-ago Incan ruler. Captured by the Indians, Echo is slated to participate in their tribal rites, which unfortunately includes a human sacrifice. With a little help from the nominal hero, likeable rogue "Hands-Up" (George Cheseboro), the heroine manages to escape, but one could be assured that this was not the end of the story.
