The second of Gaumont's three releases for the week of October 22, 1910, was the half-reel comedy Grandmother's Plot. Set in Scotland, the story is motivated by the romance between a handsome farmer and a pretty girl. The heroine's grandfather disapproves of the match, but the grandmother is quite fond of the boy. With grandma's help, hero and heroine are able to run off to the altar right under the nose of the irascible grandpa. The strategy cooked up by the grandmother was so complicated that the Variety critic adopted a "you've gotta see it to understand it" stance.
