Described by Variety as "intensely dramatic," this Gaumont one-reeler focuses on a poverty-stricken street violinist. Unable to attract a crowd, the hero heads to a Catholic church to pray for guidance. Standing at the altar, he plays his violin for the "Ears of the Madonna" -- whereupon he is miraculously presented with a golden lily. Rushing to a goldsmith's shop to cash in this manna from Heaven, the violinist is accused of theft and sentenced to jail. Officiating over the man's trial is an elder of the church, who refuses to believe the defendant's story. Begging for a chance to prove his innocence, the violinist is returned under heavy guard to the altar, where once again he plays for the benefit of the Madonna -- and where once again a miracle occurs.
