No more than a political propaganda piece that does not work that well as a film, this story is an anti-Solidarity tale meant to discredit Lech Walesa and the trade unionists who support him. The setting is in late December, on the eve of a declaration of martial law. After a worker is elected to be in charge of the official state union at a steel factory, Walesa's unionists rough him up. They want him to join a strike against the plant, and he refuses -- with uncomfortable but hardly life-threatening results.
