The title pretty much tells the story in this Vitagraph single-reeler. Shanghaied by a surly sea captain, a young newsboy is forced to work as a cabin steward. Resenting the harsh treatment doled out to him by the cruel captain -- at one point, he is branded on the face with a red-hot iron -- the boy finally jumps ship, swimming to a South Sea Island. Upon seeing the angry red mark on the boy's face, the natives fall prostrate, regarding the young visitor as a god. Now king of the island, the boy returns to the ship with several of his "subjects" in tow to mete out retribution to the captain and his scurvy crew. The boy-king then annexes the island on behalf of the United States, bringing the film to a rousingly patriotic conclusion.
