Shot at the 30th Republican National Convention, Top Value Television's documentary Four More Years shatters the orchestrated pageantry of this staged media event, interrogating it as well as the news media's coverage of it. While the networks are covering only the spectacle as presented, TVT goes outside the convention, to the anti-war protests and cocktail parties, to reveal the structure underpinning the convention and the environment around it. Particularly memorable scenes include, the Nixon daughters at a cocktail party pushing Nixon as the "young persons candidate" and the pep talk given to the Nixonettes, young women who volunteer their time as hostesses at convention parties. Equally interesting are the interviews with network television floor reporters who honestly admit that the convention is not news and that the protests outside are. Four More Years was a video that significantly opened what television news reporting could look like.
