From all existing accounts, Warren E. Lyle's overwrought performance in The Folly of Revenge was firmly in the "so bad it's good" category. Lyle was cast as an angry young man who swears to avenge himself against the no-good snake who did him wrong years earlier. So obsessed with vengeance is the hero that he loses sight of everything else, and in the process also loses his soul. The story was set in New Orleans, but the backdrops were more reminiscent of Upstate New York. The trade magazine Variety compared Warren E. Lyle to one Corse Payton, who then "enjoyed" the reputation of being the worst actor in show business.
