FINE, THANKS. AND YOU? Is a comedy about family, romance, hubris, and delusion. Otis Rose, a 28-year old television writer, is going to San Francisco to be the best man at his brother's wedding even though he can't stand the bride, the wedding or most of his family. He injures his ankle on his way to the festivities and is forced to spend the days leading up to the wedding stuck in his hotel room, fending off his crazy relatives and trying to convince Amy, the young woman with whom he's been having an illicit affair for ten years, that the times has come for them to move-in together. Just when it seems like he's got all his ducks in a row, the roof caves in—Amy tells him she'd rather long for him than have him in the flesh, and his family, fed up with his bad attitude about the wedding, writes him off as a spoiler and a malcontent.
Newly humbled and more alone than ever, walking on a broken ankle he thinks is merely sprained, Otis barley manages to make it through the wedding ceremony before passing out from the pain. In the end, Otis realizes that just because everyone around him is crazy doesn't mean he's any saner, or better, than they are. His confusion, frustration, and pain are rewarded with this wee bit of enlightenment, a surprising opening from which grace, humility and compassion begin to emerge.
