This Edison comedy was released on the same reel as Unappreciated Genius. For those unfamiliar with labor practices of the early 20th century, a "half holiday" referred to Saturday, which in most business establishments was a regular working day until 12 noon. The father in question decides to put his first half-holiday to good use by repairing a faulty stove pipe. Alas, our hero is not the best of do-it-yourselfers, and pretty soon the entire house is covered with soot. Father's "reward" for this well-intentioned bungling is a sound thrashing, administered by his behemoth of a wife.
