Anna Luther played twin sisters, one good, the other bad, in this silent action melodrama from low-budget entrepreneurs Weiss Bros. Nefarious Richard F. Neill attempts to substitute the good twin with the bad but his schemes are constantly thwarted by handsome Charles Hutchison. If this sounds like the plot to a silent blood-and-thunder serial, that is hardly surprising: The Fatal Plunge was indeed an edited-down five reel version of the 15 chapter serial The Great Gamble (1919). The credited director, Harry O. Hoyt, most likely only supervised the editing of the serial, which had been helmed originally by Joseph A. Golden.
