Based on a popular Danish comic-strip, this major box-office success was the feel-good movie of the year. Beloved comedian Ib Schønberg, surely the busiest actor ever in Danish films, played a widowed father of four: Søs (Birgitte Bruun, later Birgitte Price), a mother figure to her younger siblings, but still innocent and pure; Ole (Otto Møller Jensen), blond, serious, and ever-so-fey; Mie (Rudi Hansen), pigtailed ingenue in training; and Lille Per, the family's Benjamin, always in trouble and a major reason for the film's success. Adding to the cozy family atmosphere is Uncle Anders (dialect comedian Peter Malberg), always ready with a homily or two. Despite a trite story (Søs falls for her younger brother's teacher), the film inaugurated an extremely profitable series for the production company ASA.
