In this short drama, Carol Farr (Jennifer Christopher) is a wife and a mother of two boys. Carol is also a soldier enlisted in the United States Army, and she's been given orders that she and her unit are to be deployed to Afghanistan. On the night before Carol is to be sent overseas, her family and friends throw her a going-away party, but she doesn't feel much like celebrating, and her desire to spend a quiet evening at home with the people she loves most -- her husband Kurt (Josh Carmichael) and sons Ethan (Ethan Carmichael) and Wyatt (Wyatt Carmichael) -- is tempered by her anxieties that she may never see them again. Family Jewels received its world premiere at the 2009 International Film Festival; it was director Martin Stitt's second film to open at the festival, after 2006's What Does Your Daddy Do?.
