The Face 2 Face Project was created by a handful of artists living along the border of Israel and Palestine who are using giant posters pasted up in public to make a positive statement in the midst of political and religious turmoil. The Face 2 Face posters consist of extreme close ups of smiling faces, but since the subjects come from a variety of ethnic and spiritual backgrounds, they prompt viewers to guess just who is who, and by extension point out how little separates people on both sides of the Middle Eastern divide. Gmax, a member of the Face 2 Face Project, is also a filmmaker, and Faces is a documentary he directed which examines the group's guerilla art philosophy, the messages behind it, and how others react to their work. Faces was screened in competition at the 2007 Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival.
