Produced by a Swedish-Norwegian film firm, En Saga was lensed on location in Lapland. It was in fact the first feature-length study of life among the Lapps, utilizing a cast of "locals" to insure authenticity. The story centers on a lost girl child, rescued from the Arctic waste by a group of hunters. The girl blossoms into womanhood, ignorant of the fact that she is not actually a native of the region. Thus she's in for quite a surprise when she falls in love with the son of a Swedish minister. Based on an ancient Lapp legend, En Saga was released in some markets as Laili.
