Three Mexican directors combine their talents in the drama The Distant Wind. Salomon Laiter directs "En El Parco Hondo," in which a young nephew is forced by his shrewish aunt to take her cat to the veterinarian. He and his friend try to kill the animal, but the cat escapes. The terrified boy lives in fear of his aunt's wrath until the animal is found dead by the front door. Manuel Michel directs "Tarde D'Agosto," the coming-of-age story of a 14-year-old boy who has a crush on his pretty and older cousin. In "Encuentro," Sergio Vejar directs the story of a 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl finding love with each other after escaping the frequent and brutal beatings of their respective fathers.
