As helmed by Sergio Olivares, the Spanish-language documentary El niño dios de sotaquí travels to the Limarí Valley of Northern Chile. The said locale houses an indigenous sociocultural group known as the Diaguita, best known for a unique and beautiful form of rock art, but also familiar with a distinct blend of Catholicism and local pagan beliefs that involve worshipping the child-god Sotaquí. This film introduces the unfamiliar audience to the Diaguita, with candid views of their art and their religion; it also features an up-close glimpse of the feast of Sotaquí, and discusses the history of syncretism in the immediate area.
