Francisco (Alex O'Dogherty) is an unemployed ne'er-do-well who buys a mysterious box from his friend Giuseppe (Enrico Vecchi). Thanks to the box's contents, Francisco soon is being tailed by Julius McDoom (Howard Nightengall), a businessman employed by talent agent Paul Simon (Paul Rattee), who in turn is employed by the enigmatic and unseen "Iron Lady." Before Julius can buy the box off Francisco for a tidy sum, it is stolen by Ambar Pool (Jons Pappila), Francisco's oddball Swedish neighbor. Over the course of a lengthy flashback provided by Julius, it transpires that the box contains the receipt for a cassette of music recorded by an obscure Scottish musician of the 1950s, David Pilgrim; the cassette provides direct evidence that certain key elements of the history of pop music need to be rewritten altogether.
