Once part of the social set, Madge (Alice Joyce) is now married to aspiring inventor Dan Hillyer (Robert Gordon) and living in a tenement on the East Side of New York. When he has to go out of town to sell his invention, she doesn't hesitate in drawing out her life savings to fund the trip. But the money is stolen from her, and she goes to a former suitor, Arthur Crew (Crawford Kent) who helps her out. Dan makes his fortune and returns from the West to find that he has become a father. But Madge, scarred from their financial troubles, refuses to move from the tenement. Adding to the couple's strain is the fact that Crew still cares for Madge very much. But in the end, the baby keeps the husband and wife together, and they resolve their differences.
