Produced by Charles Urban, the British Dissolution of Parliament was released by the Eclipse company as "An Urbana Joke." Indeed, this irreverent "trick" comedy is little more than a single joke -- or, to be more precise, a pun. The film begins with a mock-patriotic tableau, depicting famous British statesmen, past and present. That these Parliamentarians are merely wax figures becomes quite obvious during the next few minutes, as their bodies melt and dissolve before our very eyes. Reportedly, the actual members of Parliament found this film quite amusing -- even the notoriously taciturn Winston Churchill.
