His first collaboration with his longtime scriptwriter P.K. Atre, Master Vinayak directs this satire about a wealthy philanthropist (Baburao Pendharkar) named Dinanath who airs his platitudes about honor and decency in public while whoring and bilking unsuspecting victims of their money in private. Jagadish (Vinayak), on the other hand, is a guy who has earned near-universal scorn for having failed his school exit exam eight times, and is utterly in love with a beautiful, though poor, flower vendor named Katsuri (Ratnaprabha). Later, Jagadish accidentally exposes Dinanath's hypocracies and his wrongdoing, making him a public hero of sorts. Yet through it all, Jagadish remains utterly devoted to Katsuri.
