When homesteader Donald McLane (Al Whitman) marries Julia Wharton (Leota Lorraine), he incurs the jealous wrath of Rufe Dorsey (Jack Richardson). Dorsey has a lot of power in this section of the West, and he gets together with the crooked sheriff (Ray Hanford) to pin a false charge of murder on McLane. A stranger (George C. Pearce) comes to town, posing as a financier, but he starts sniffing around the McLane case, which ultimately leads to a big shoot-out. The stranger is actually a government Secret Service agent who was out to break up Dorsey's ring. Dorsey is killed in the battle, the sheriff arrested and McLane cleared of any wrongdoing.
