This overall amateur production was written, directed, photographed, edited, and scored by Thorsten Nater, as a beginning foray into the realm of feature-length cinema. The story involves an avant-garde theater troupe that is given a surprise infusion of cash from an anonymous donor to put on Sophocles' play, Oedipus Rex. This is even more of a surprise since the troupe is in no way trained to do "Oedipus," and from the beginning the project is doomed to failure. Be that as it may, rehearsals get underway, with the donor, unknown to the cast and crew, somewhere among the actors (that was a condition of the donation). Only the manager knows who the donor is, and coincidentally, the manager begins to be bilked by a blackmailer in the meantime. Suspicions begin to rest on Oedipus himself, but any eagerness to discover the end of this mystery may have dissipated for most viewers after the first reel or two.
