The title characters in this Gaumont domestic drama are the daughters of a common laborer. It is clear from the outset that the father prefers one girl to the other; thus he takes great umbrage when his favorite offspring falls in love with a stranger. The laborer takes to drink, loses his job, and ends up a derelict. Seeking revenge for his troubles (which he won't admit are of his own making), the laborer prepares to kill his former employer. He is deflected from this course by his "less favorite" daughter, who sacrifices her own life to save her father from jail.
