Produced by Domino Films, Courtship of O San was released through the facilities of the Mutual Film Exchange. Though produced in the good old U.S.A., the film boasts an all-Japanese cast, and tells an essentially Japanese story. Falling in love with a beautiful Kabuki dancer, a young aristocrat marries her -- but, in the interests of propriety, keeps his marriage a secret from his family. By and by a child is born, whereupon the young man deserts his wife and baby, announcing that he cannot be seen associating with someone "beneath his station." Resignedly, she goes along with this, but when word comes to her that her husband is about to marry another woman, she transforms into an angel of wrath and vengeance. The film ends with a murder-suicide, a tearful deathbed confession, and a long, slow fade to black.
