Pre-revolutionary Russia was the setting for this Vitagraph three-reeler. The daughter of a Czarist military officer falls in love with one of her father's subordinates. But papa, ever conscious of status, arranges for the girl to marry an ageing general. She tries to be faithful to her ancient husband, but this becomes difficult when her sweetheart is assigned to the general's staff. Suspecting that something is going on behind his back, the general arranges for the younger man to be arrested on an infraction and sentenced to be shot. If his wife pleads for the young officer's release, the general will know that she has been untrue to him. Instead, the gallant lover insists that the wife maintain her silence, fearlessly facing the firing squad secure in the knowledge that he has saved his sweetheart's reputation.
