Released in tandem with the Pathe comedy Man Is Absent-Minded was the half-reel travelouge Colombo and Its Environs. On this occasion, the studio's cameramen were sent to India and its then-province, Ceylon (now known as Sri Lanka). Filmgoers in 1910 were invariably fascinated by shots of foreign streets clogged with humanity, which this film provides in abundance. Especially impressive were the medium shots of Ceylonese citizens in their native garb. Though originally filmed in black-and-white, these scenes were painstakingly color-tinted by hand, with unerring accuracy.
