"All American Boy" Charles Ray did his bit for the war effort in the five-reel propaganda piece The Claws of the Hun. Because he is essential to the welfare of his family, hero Ray is turned down at the local recruiting office. As a result, he is falsely labelled a "slacker" and shunned by the community. He is given the opportunity to prove his loyalty to Uncle Sam by exposing a German plot to blow up his father's munitions factory. The eleventh of Charles Ray's thirteen cinematic collaborations with director Victor Schertzinger, Claws of the Hun was filmed under the title The Hand of the Hun.
