A father wants to know the truth about the son he ignored when he was alive in this drama from Chinese director Wang Xiaoshuai. Lin Quanhai (Wang Xueqi) earns his living as a ship's captain; he spends months at a time on the ocean, and his relationship with his family is tenuous at best. Lin realizes how much he's cut himself off from those around him when he returns to port and receives shocking news -- his 25-year-old son Bo (Zi Yi) was shot and killed by police after the young man attacked several people at a shopping center. Lin thinks back on Bo and understands he barely knew him, so he sets out to find out about the son he all but abandoned in his youth. Lin is rejected by his ex-wife, so he begins talking with anyone who knew Bo, including the people he tried to hurt and the police officer who shot him. Eventually, Lin tracks down Bo's best friend Xiao Hao (Qin Hao), who is wary of Lin but in time strikes up a friendship with the father as he gradually develops an understanding of the troubled man and how he failed him. Rizhao Chongqing (aka Chongqing Blues) was an official selection at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
