The first of a handful of Mary Miles Minter comedy-dramas directed by Lloyd Ingraham, Charity Castle was at least a bit more inventive than Minter's usual rags-to-riches stories. Minter played the title character, seeking refuge in an apparently abandoned mansion along with her kid brother (Clifford Callis). They are joined by a burglar, an actor (Spottiswood Aitken), and a vagrant, and all are put to work restoring the place when the son (Allan Forrest) of the owner suddenly turns up. Naturally, the young man falls in love with Charity and they wed. Director Ingraham would later appear as emaciated old-timers in countless B-Westerns. Like almost all of Mary Miles Minter's pictures, Charity Castle seems to have been lost.
