Veteran Western lead Harry Carey went up against one of the more formidable villains of the silent era in this early oater written and directed by genre specialist Lynn F. Reynolds. The villain in question was the handsome Robert McKim, who that same year menaced Douglas Fairbanks in The Mark of Zorro. Carey goes undercover as a bandit in order to infiltrate McKim's gang and find the man who killed his father. Carey ferrets out the killer and rescues the inevitable damsel in distress but does not ride into the sunset at the fadeout this time. As a matter of fact, Carey and leading lady Kathleen O'Connor do what any sensible couple would have done after barely escaping death in the wilderness -- they move to New York City.
