In 1970s Japan, 15-year-old Michio (Atsushi Ito) is taken to a rural orphanage after his father dies. There, he becomes friends with Yasuo (Sora Toma), a soprano in the choir. Following the other boy's lead, and despite his speech impediment, Michio joins up. The boys' relationship deepens as they become more obsessed with the choir. But their idyllic world is disrupted when a revolutionary named Satomi (Ryoko Takizawa) is given sanctuary at the orphanage.
