For aspiring author Frambers (Frederick Lewis), life is starvation and one returned manuscript after another. But he gets an offer from a stock broker with a wayward daughter, Helen (Ethel Gray Terry) -- if he will save the girl's reputation by marrying her, he will receive ten thousand dollars. Frambers agrees and turns out to have a talent for the stock market. He also plays the long-suffering husband until Helen's flirtations become too much for him. By then he can buy himself out of the arrangement, and does. But when his father-in-law's business runs into trouble, he returns to help out. Then Helen discovers that she really loves her husband-in-name-only after all, and they are reunited.
